#25 How to use thread tape correctly

This quick video runs over when it is ideal to use PTFE (otherwise known as Teflon tape) and how to apply it correctly. An example of when you will need to put a male thread inside a female thread and tape is needed to create watertight seal, is on a radiator or an outside tap.

Hold the tape so its facing away from you, place on the underside of thread and wrap anti clockwise about 8 times to cover the thread. To break the tape, pull and snap off. Use your thumb and smooth out the tape, leaving small edge to show mental. This allows the thread to bite easily and leave no overhang to affect flow of water.
