#17 How to fix an underground water leak

This video is a great example of the process of identifying and fixing a broken water main. This video explains what signs to look for when identifying the leak, mentions important things to check before proceeding with any construction, what parts are needed to fix a broken pipe, and how to check on the water meter if the leak is fixed properly.

Please note there are many products on the market which can be used to fix a leak, this is just one example. A good sign is standing water/bubbling water out of the ground and the water meter has filled up with water on the grass.

Check with your utilities company that you won’t be digging into electrical wires or cables. Locate the problem (in this case a rock has put a hole in the pipe). This example the video shows the man cut out a piece of the pipe, replaces it with a foot of new piping and uses fittings to stick it to the older pipe.
