#13 How to fix a leaky trap under your sink or basin
This video takes you through the steps of fixing a leak under your sink, in particular the sink waste. It provides important tips to be aware of, what tools will help unscrew the nuts, and how to replace the washer/s. It also touches on different components that could possibly be the cause of your leak.
In this example, the plumber looks at the sink waste. Taking this apart is a good way to unblock your sink waste time to time as well. Make sure to first try and tighten the nut on the pipe incase that is the reason for the leak.
Undo the nuts, take the pipe out, look at washer and replace. There are different washers in all of the nuts on the pipe. Commonly, that is the problem. There’s also a washer on the back nut which you can renew or put PTFE around the front of the pipe so you don’t have to replace it.
